Biden defends stimulus plan, contractors raise concerns

Over the next few months, the federal government will release billions of dollars for infrastructure projects, including construction of a high-speed rail and the redesign of the nation's electricity grid, Vice President Joe Biden said. Some contractors, however, have said the government is not distributing the funds quickly enough to help them save jobs. Some communities aren't putting stimulus funds to work quickly, noted Stephen E. Sandherr, CEO of the Associated General Contractors of America. "Coping with the red tape required by the stimulus ought to be worth it to help put neighbors and friends back to work," he said.
