NRC: Information on reactor's design is needed for licensing process

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission warned that insufficient data on the design of Westinghouse's AP1000 reactor could hamper the process of licensing the facility for Southern Nuclear's Plant Vogtle and other nuclear ventures. The agency earlier warned Westinghouse that important review schedules had been changed because of the firm's "inability to make adequate design information available to the staff." NRC spokesman Roger Hannah said it remains unclear whether the setbacks would affect construction schedules.
