Scientists equip iPhone with disease-tracking application

Researchers at Children's Hospital Boston and Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab have added a new application to Apple iPhone that could allow users to immediately monitor and report swine flu and other outbreaks of infectious diseases. The "Outbreaks Near Me" program is linked to a Web-based resource called HealthMap that gathers and shares information on infectious diseases.
