Weight-loss surgery can break mother-child obesity cycle

Researchers said women who have weight-loss surgery before becoming pregnant can break the cycle in which children of obese mothers are more likely to be overweight. The study found children born after a mother's weight-loss surgery had lower birth weights and were three times less likely to become severely obese than siblings born before the surgery.
