22 dogs at N.C. shelter are euthanized over mysterious disease

A mysterious respiratory illness killed eight puppies at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in North Carolina, prompting shelter officials to euthanize 22 dogs to prevent further spread of the disease. The illness is similar to one that led to the temporary closure of another North Carolina shelter, which had to euthanize 200 animals.
