Disability unemployment decreases slightly, though wide gap remains

The unemployment rate for workers with disabilities decreased from 16.4% in July to 15.6% in August, according to data released Friday. However, the jobless rate is 60% higher among those who have disabilities than among those who do not. The Labor Department began monitoring disability unemployment rates in October 2008 but does not yet have enough data to detect trends.
