Rail and intermodal traffic hits record heights for 2010

Rail freight traffic and intermodal hauls increased to 2010 highs during the week that ended Aug. 28, the Association of American Railroads said. Railroads carried 302,358 loads, up 5.8% from the comparable week a year ago. Intermodal traffic climbed to a record for a third consecutive week, as loads reached 237,194, up 17.1% from a year ago.
