Markets have become more difficult to operate as the number of stock and options exchanges has proliferated, according to some experts. "There's a point at which it turns from an organized, competitive business environment to a chaotic environment," said John Koltes of Archelon. Conversely, CME Group has largely avoided technological glitches in part because the company's five futures exchanges capture 90% of the domestic market.
