Districts seek professional development tailored to common core

School leaders nationwide say intensive professional development and training are part of their preparations for the curriculum changes accompanying the Common Core State Standards. The Salisbury Township School District in Allentown, Pa., is looking to send its entire administrative team to Discovery Education's Common Core Academy, which includes sessions on math instruction and how to best serve students with special needs. "Having a resource that can guide us through that process has been helpful particularly when it comes to figuring out how to integrate CCSS across all of our district's different curricula areas," said Michael Roth, district superintendent.
