Hagel encourages use of mental health services

"The Department of Defense has no more important responsibility than supporting and protecting those who defend our country, and that means we must do everything possible to prevent military suicide," Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said in a statement marking the beginning of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Hagel and other defense officials are urging troops to take advantage of available services while working to combat alcohol and substance abuse and erase the stigma attached to seeking mental health assistance.
