Many investors don't trust financial advisers, surveys show

The retirement industry has a long way to go before it gets back the trust it lost in the Great Recession, according to two surveys. The most recent CFA Institute/Edelman Investor Trust Study found that only 53% of clients believe investment management companies do what's best for them. State Street Corp.'s poll of retail investors, the Forgotten Investor Survey, discovered that only 15% of the people participating trusted financial advisers.
