N.Y. districts grapple with higher costs of school meals

Foodservice directors in parts of New York say students have made the adjustment to eating healthier meals under the National School Lunch Program. Schools are not reporting a loss in participation, despite early reports that students were throwing away much of their fruit and vegetable servings. Some school districts, however, are reporting higher costs associated with meeting the federal standards -- resulting in budgetary challenges.
