Precast used for open box girders in Ariz. project

Precast concrete has been used for the initial construction phase of the nearly 5-mile-long PHX Sky Train project in Phoenix. The concrete material was chosen by the construction-manager-at-risk because of its cost-efficient and time-saving benefits. "This girder will be used not only on the upcoming Stage 2 of the Sky Train, but having proved its worth will hopefully be adopted for local projects in Phoenix and elsewhere in Arizona," write John A. Lobo and David A. Burrows.
