Retail coalition campaigns against patent trolls' latest demands

A coalition including the National Retail Federation has started an ad campaign against patent trolls that are demanding money from retail establishments for such activities as putting calorie counts on online menus, providing Wi-Fi in coffee shops and sending scanned images as e-mail attachments. According to PatentFreedom, more than half of those now targeted by what it calls "non-practicing entities" are in the retail sector. The National Restaurant Association, the Food Marketing Institute and the Internet Association are also backing the radio and print campaign aimed at key congressional districts.
