State call centers prepare to help uninsured buy ACA coverage

Call centers in Vermont, Connecticut and Washington are gearing up to assist their nearly 1.4 million residents without health insurance, who will be required to enroll in a plan starting next month under the Affordable Care Act. California and Maryland are already operating call centers, and other states will start offering the service later this month to uninsured Americans, more than half of whom don't understand the ACA and its implications, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll.
