Wis. seeks to boost students' reading proficiency under common core

Wisconsin will expand its new universal literacy screener, called Phonological Awareness Literacy Screener, to more kindergartners and first-grade students. The screening tool and other initiatives are part of a statewide push to improve students' reading proficiency -- putting them on the path to success under the Common Core State Standards. The focus also makes teacher training in literacy a priority.
