Variety to track TV shows and films' digital buzz

Variety will soon roll out Digital Audience Ratings that measure the digital buzz surrounding movies and TV shows, using a system that tracks conversations on Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube and other platforms. "It's about articulating the value of a program and giving us, and our advertisers, the context to compare that program in a consistent and simple way across the television landscape," says Tom Ziangas of AMC Networks.
