Construction spending unexpectedly drops in July

Construction spending in the U.S. took a surprising dip of 0.4% in July, according to the Commerce Department. Analysts expected the seasonally adjusted annual rate of construction to remain unchanged in July, but the figure dropped from $1.175 trillion in June to $1.17 trillion in July.
