EMRs played major role in care during Hurricane Gustav

A prepositioned generator at Baton Rouge's Ochsner Medical Center allowed the hospital to remain open with unhindered access to patients' electronic medical records during Hurricane Gustav, which improved ER care. The Louisiana Hospital Association is working with other hospitals and the federal government to keep an updated database on the location of transferred patients and has established an online patient locator that families can use.
