Energy commission OKs Florida natural gas storage unit

Floridian Natural Gas Storage has received the go-ahead to build a $600 million natural gas storage facility on a former Superfund cleanup site in Florida's Martin County. The facility, a first in the state, would be capable of holding 8 billion cubic feet and could help utilities maintain the power grid when hurricanes disrupt production, processing and transmission operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
