Shopping trends shift downward

Consumers are shopping more often at lower-priced stores, purchasing more private-label goods and looking for stores that offer one-stop shopping, according to research. While department stores may be losing customers to discounters, those discounters are in turn losing shoppers to even less-expensive dollar stores.
