Contractors urge government to speed stimulus spending

Members of the construction industry are calling for the government to speed up the distribution of economic stimulus funds. Total construction spending declined 0.2% in July from the previous month as cuts in state and local government spending offset stimulus spending. "We know from contractors' reports that stimulus money is beginning to flow, but what should be a torrent by now is only a trickle in most categories," Associated General Contractors Chief Economist Ken Simonson said.
