Saint Gobain CEO forecasts improved earnings for second half of '09

Saint Gobain CEO Pierre-Andre de Chalendar predicted the second half of 2009 would be more profitable for the French building-materials company. "Even if overall trading activity will not improve rapidly, earnings will improve," he said. Saint Gobain hopes to cut $1.6 billion in costs by the end of 2009.
