Study: Inhibiting gene stops weight gain in mice

Blocking the IKKE gene prevented mice from becoming obese even if they were fed a high-fat diet, U.S. researchers found. The IKKE gene and the protein it produces could be used as therapeutic targets for obesity, diabetes and other conditions if follow-up studies prove an association between the gene and obesity in humans, the study's lead author said.
