Cow death at Calif. state fair prompts review of live animal birth exhibits

The California Exposition and State Fair's Animal Care and Livestock Committee is working with veterinarians and other groups to re-evaluate its live birthing exhibits after a pregnant cow died at the fair this summer. Fair organizers contend that the birthing exhibits give spectators a historical glimpse into agriculture, but animal-welfare groups want the live births banned altogether.
