Bill in Mich. would privatize teaching

Some Michigan lawmakers say they plan to propose legislation that would allow for the privatization of teaching in public schools. Under the tentative proposal, for-profit companies would be able to compete for public-school teaching positions -- diminishing the power of teachers unions in negotiating compensation for their members. The lead supporter of the plan says it will provide more choices for schools, while unions say it will lead to the elimination of collective bargaining and decreased wages.
