Quantum chip will make mobile phones more secure, researchers say

Researchers at the University of Bristol in the U.K. say they have come up with a silicon-based quantum chip, setting the stage for optical computers and mobile handsets that will be more secure than current models. "It really means we are getting to the point where we can start to think about not just the mass manufacture of devices, but getting to the scale where they might fit into mobile phones," said Mark Thompson of the university's School of Physics.
