BioMerieux to pay $450M for infectious disease Dx firm

France-based bioMerieux has agreed to buy BioFire Diagnostics, maker of the PCR FilmArray used to detect infectious diseases, for $450 million plus debt. The deal, set to be finalized at the close of the fiscal year or early next year, is expected to allow bioMerieux to bolster its presence in the infectious disease testing arena.
