Eurozone rebounds to growth with modest 2nd-quarter gain

As expected, the eurozone economy returned to growth mode in the second quarter with a 0.3% rise in gross domestic product from the first quarter. Retail sales and other indicators "give some hope the second quarter wasn't a one-off, but it's still a modest recovery that falls a long way short of the growth rates needed to address the region's fiscal problems," said Jonathan Loynes, chief European economist at Capital Economics in London.
