Facebook's new privacy policy violates court order, consumer groups say

Consumer privacy groups including the Center for Digital Democracy and the Electronic Privacy Information Center filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission asking it to block a new Facebook privacy policy. The groups contend the policy violates a 2011 court order requiring Facebook to seek explicit consent from users before sharing their information with third-party advertisers. Facebook says its advertising practices are the same and that the new policy only seeks to provide additional clarification for users.
