Former non-listed REITs offer several advantages

Buying shares in a public real estate investment trust that was formerly a non-listed REIT offers the advantage for the investor of being able to research the management track record and dividend history. Several such REITs -- including Chambers Street Group, Cole Real Estate Investments and Whitestone REIT -- offer the added advantage of being largely unnoticed by institutions due to the fact that they're small or new to the market.
