Harsh verbal discipline linked to depression, behavior issues in teens

Children who received increased levels of harsh verbal discipline from their parents at age 13 were more prone to behavioral problems such as aggression and misconduct the following year, according to a study in the journal Child Development. Greater exposure to harsh verbal discipline from parents was also linked to higher odds of depression at age 14.
