Google plans to appeal a court ruling that sided with Microsoft and involved patent royalties related to video-compression and Wi-Fi technology. Microsoft was awarded $14.5 million in damages. "The verdict could help the two companies resolve a dispute over patent royalties for both fundamental technologies in electronic devices and features that make them easier to use.
