NIH program to explore use of genomic sequencing in newborn screening

The NIH will award four research teams up to $25 million over five years to determine whether the use of genomic sequencing in screening newborns enhances health outcomes. "This initiative will help us better understand how we can appropriately use this information to improve health and prevent disease in infants and children," said National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Director Alan Guttmacher.
