School districts hire company to monitor students' social media posts

The California-based company Geo Listening has been hired by school districts nationwide to monitor students' activity on social media websites. The firm looks at posts that are available publicly and flags those that indicate students are a danger to themselves or intend to cause trouble. Officials say the company offers a service that schools do not have the time to provide on their own.
