Study: Diabetes did not rise proportionally with obesity

A new report from the CDC finds diabetes rates rose less than 5% in the U.S. in the 1990s; researchers were expecting a larger jump because the number of obese Americans increased 61% in the same period. Some explain the difference by stating diabetes is a slow-developing disease and rates may rise sharply in coming years.
