Now that Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's quest for more control over schools has passed the Legislature, it's time to end the political squabbling and work together to ensure his success, urges a Los Angeles Times editorial. The mayor's political prowess and his close cooperation with the school board can mitigate the control plan's flaws, the newspaper says.
