Minnesota Steel gets two of three permits for taconite-to-steel plant

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have granted two of three environmental permits to Minnesota Steel for the construction of a $1.6 billion taconite mine-to-steel plant in Nashwauk, Minn. The permits included a wetlands and a water quality permit. The decision on an air quality permit still needed from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is due on Friday.
