Despite slumping commercial sales, Bombardier swings to Q2 profit

Strong demand for business jets helped Bombardier Inc. swing to a second-quarter profit of $246 million, compared to a loss of $71 million in the same quarter last year. While quarterly deliveries of regional jets and turboprops slumped, deliveries of business aircraft were up more than 30%. New orders for business jets also were up sharply, although the company received just 11 orders for commercial aircraft, down from 84 a year earlier.
