Engineers raise Deepwater Horizon blowout preventer

Engineers investigating the causes of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill have raised a 300-ton safety device that was designed to cut off the flow of oil and gas in the event of a blowout. The 50-foot-tall blowout preventer, which took more than a day to raise to the surface, will be taken for testing to figure out why it failed to operate correctly.
