Case Western study: Nurses can use technology to help caregivers

A study shows long-distance caregivers feel guilt, stress and hopeless, which researchers say nurses could help ease by providing information on disease processes, treatments and even resources for home care problems, such as housekeeping and meal delivery. Study author and nursing educator Polly Mazanec of Case Western Reserve University says new technologies can change how information is delivered to caregivers, including Web-based programs that allow them to see the facility where a loved one is living and participate in physician visits.
