Groups ask CMS to revise fee schedule to reflect costs of health IT

The Medical Group Management Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians have urged the CMS to revise the Medicare Part B Physician Fee Schedule for 2012 to help relieve IT-related burdens among health professionals and adjust how various health care services are valued. Doctors who meet meaningful use standards for EHR incentives should automatically be exempt from e-prescribing penalties and qualify for Physician Quality Reporting System bonuses, the groups told the CMS.
