Taxpayer Advocate announces new criteria for accepting taxpayer cases

The Taxpayer Advocate Service has announced changes to the criteria it uses for accepting taxpayer requests for help. The TAS has identified areas where the Internal Revenue Service's processes generally produce the right result, and the TAS will no longer accept cases in those areas, except when the taxpayer is suffering an economic burden or also has other issues requiring assistance.
