$570M Miss. port project on track for 2016 completion

Restoration of Port of Gulfport in Mississippi -- severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 -- is on track for its scheduled 2016 completion, according to a report released Tuesday by state officials. Construction has started on the $570 million project and is expected to ramp up in coming months. "The strengthening and developing of the Port of Gulfport will increase capacity, in turn generating new jobs and investment for Mississippi," said Brent Christensen, executive director for the Mississippi Development Authority.
