ASTA to focus on advocacy challenges at convention

At the upcoming ASTA Global Convention in Miami, the association aims to highlight its strong track record this year defending travel agents' interests on the regulatory front. Eben Peck and John Pittman, ASTA's vice president of government affairs and vice president of industry affairs, respectively, are set to host a session Sept. 18 to discuss regulatory and legislative issues that may affect the industry, such as the significant budget cuts across many government agencies, the new DOT passenger-protection rules and the Cruise Passenger Protection Act being considered in Congress.
