The next configuration of Moonshot servers from Hewlett-Packard will be based on Intel's low-power Atom C2000 "Avoton" processors, which were formally unveiled on Wednesday, Larry Dignan writes. These new servers will be used for Big Data and Web-hosting applications, according to HP's Gerald Kleyn. In November, HP plans to offer Moonshot server cartridges that will have processors from Advanced Micro Devices and Calxeda.
