One of the agendas of the National Association of Career Travel Agents at its upcoming convention is to outline the group's strong growth amid the rise of independent contractors in the travel agent industry, says NACTA Vice President Ann van Leeuwen. The organization aims to provide better tools for its member agents, as well as to strengthen ties between independents and travel suppliers, van Leeuwen said. "Nearly half of our members are not affiliated with a host agency. So suppliers may be missing half of the membership. Our priority is to help them make that connection," van Leeuwen said.
