Ore. district to hold monthly local food days

An Oregon school district will use a "Farm to School and School Garden" grant to hold monthly local food days in school cafeterias, as well as to focus on education and encourage students to eat local foods. On the first "local day" of the school year, Sept. 17, the district will serve corn chowder made with locally grown corn and grilled cheese sandwiches with bread from an area bakery, as well as dishes that include locally produced tortillas and yogurt.
