Congress should stay the course on the Renewable Fuel Standard, which has proved to be one of the nation's most effective energy policies, writes Tom Haag, president of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association. Thanks to the RFS, clean fuels have a chance to compete in a market long dominated by pollution-causing fossil fuels, Haag notes. The RFS accounts for 400,000 American jobs, contributes $43 billion to the gross domestic product, cuts carbon emissions by more than a third and saves motorists about $1,200 annually on fuel costs, Haag states.
