Study: Tsunami from a major Alaska earthquake could hit Los Angeles

Los Angeles and Newport Bay are among the low-lying coastal areas in California likely to be hit by a tsunami that could be triggered by a magnitude 9.1 earthquake off the coast of Alaska, according to a study by the U.S. Geological Survey. The state could incur $8 billion in losses from such an event, researchers said.
